THE MOMENT WASN’T GONE. IT JUST HADN’T HAPPENED YET.
I used to see something interesting, take the photo, and before anything could change, I was already gone. Eventually I realized I wasn’t always missing the moment. Sometimes I was just early.
TWO ARTISTS CAN STAND IN THE SAME PLACE AND SEE TWO DIFFERENT WORLDS.
Same streets. Same light. Sometimes only a few feet apart. But somehow, Rahel and I kept noticing completely different things.
THE ANSWER WAS IN THE THINGS I COULDN’T STOP NOTICING.
For a long time, I thought if I changed locations, my photos would finally feel different. Better. But they didn’t. Because I was still looking at everything the same way.
